What I’m doing now

(This is a now page, and if you have your own site, you should make one, too.)

Updated November 2025

Since not many people actually read my blog in the way people did two decades ago, I figured I should try the now page idea.

There is of course a day job which pays the bills.

Outisde of that I play guitar in and write songs for the sensational rock band Queen Eleanor's Cross and since we like to play live by extension I like to support local bands and venues as an audience member and very occasional gig reviewer and photographer.

I mostly walk and cycle to keep fit and manage my mental health. Gardening helps with the latter too.

I spend most of my time when not working or keeping fit on creative pursuits. Film photography and ceramics have taken a back seat now to the work needed to keep an ambitious band active (although photography, design, writing, keeping social media up to date, building and repairing guitars and stage equipment is part of that), and I have taken up sewing as a new skill for both repairing band stuff like gig bags as well as making stuff to wear onstage.

I also spend time unpaid as a creative consultant for various artist friends. On the face of it this looks like middle aged people sitting around having coffee, but I'm flattered by being asked for my opinion and ideas, value the chats and challenges and I like knowing I was part of someone's creative endeavours when they are finally unleashed on the world. I also bend their ears about my projects too and get free coffee so it is all fair in the end.

I've recently started making the effort to see bands and artists who I liked as a teenager and who are coming to the end of their touring days. This year it was Uli Jon Roth and Yngwie Malmsteen.

As a contrast to loud Gothic post-punk I also like to play the ukulele.

Most of my active social media sites are still linked here.
